Ralph Edwin Villanueva - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — The chief of the Muntinlupa health office died yesterday after contracting COVID-19.

Dr. Teresa Tuliao tested positive for the virus last week, according to city public information officer Tez Navarro.

“Despite the challenges she faced, Dr. Tuliao showed her strength as one of the frontliners against COVID-19,” the city government said in a Facebook post.

Muntinlupa Rep. Ruffy Biazon called Tuliao a “hero,” adding that she dedicated her life to the well-being and safety of others.

“She fought until she can so that others may live. Now she is at rest, having fulfilled her duty as a public officer, her oath as a physician and a servant of God,” Biazon said.

Other local officials also honored Tuliao, calling her a “true warrior and a strong and dynamic woman.”
