Former DILG usec Andanar dies

MANILA, Philippines — Malacañang condoled with the family of former interior undersecretary Wencelito Andanar, who died of liver cancer yesterday.

Andanar, who also served as special envoy to Malaysia, died at the Veterans’ Memorial Medical Center, according to his son, Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Secretary Martin Andanar.

“We condole with the family and colleagues of lawyer Wencelito Andanar,” presidential spokesman Harry Roque said at a press briefing.

The younger Andanar said his father was the “greatest man and mentor” he has ever known.

“He inspired me to join public service,” the PCOO chief said.
