More MRT-3 employees recover from COVID-19
MANILA, Philippines — The Metro Rail Transit Line 3 has deployed additional trains as more MRT-3 employees recovered from COVID-19 infection.
The MRT-3 management said 16 trains were operational as of yesterday.
According to the Department of Transportation (DOTr), 332 rail workers have recovered from the viral disease as of Friday.
The Light Rail Transit Line 1 (LRT-1) posted the highest number of recoveries with 112 followed by the MRT-3 with 98.
The LRT-2 registered 93 recoveries while the Philippine National Railways had 29.
The DOTr said 680 train workers are still on quarantine.
The MRT-3 said it would still implement a 30 percent seating capacity in compliance with health and safety protocols set by the government.
The management said talking, eating and taking phone calls inside trains remain prohibited to avoid the transmission of the virus among the passengers.
The DOTr assured the public that only MRT-3 employees who have tested negative for COVID-19 would be allowed to return to field work.
The DOTr had ordered the MRT-3 and other rail lines to deploy fewer trains amid a surge in COVID-19 cases.
