6 BIFF bandits surrender in Maguindanao

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines — A ranking leader of local terror group Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) and his five followers surrendered to the military in Maguindanao on Saturday.

The terrorists surrendered to Col. Pedro Balisi Jr., chief of the 1st Mechanized Battalion, in Barangay Kamasi, Ampatuan town, according to Western Mindanao Command chief Lt. Gen. Corleto Vinluan Jr.

Vinluan identified the surrenderees as Abunawas Ibad Damiog, alias Bayawak, and his followers Yasser Bago Abunawas, Anwar Alim Sangki, Olon Bago Abunawas, Mohammad Kanakan Ibad and Dihan Abdul Ali.

The surrenderees turned over several rifles and ammunition to the military.
