Ghio Ong - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — At least 157 more employees of rail services have tested positive for COVID-19, according to the Department of Transportation (DOTr).

The DOTr said a total of 787 train personnel contracted the virus since Monday, up from 630 last week.

The Light Rail Transit Line 2 recorded the most number of COVID-19 cases with 251. Of the LRT-2’s 1,944 employees, 1,870 underwent swab tests.

Starting on April 17, the LRT-2 will shorten train trips amid the rising number of workers infected with the virus.

LRTA administrator Reynaldo Berroya said trains would run from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. only until April 30.

The Metro Rail Transit Line 3 and Philippine National Railways posted 208 COVID-19 cases each.

The LRT Line 1 registered the least number of COVID-19 infections with 120 cases after swab testing 794 out of its 1,185 employees.
