Cops kill crime gang chief

MANILA, Philippines — The alleged leader of a crime syndicate was killed by police in a supposed encounter in Tondo, Manila yesterday.

Rommel Tiatco allegedly resisted being served an arrest warrant for murder issued by Manila Regional Trial Court Branch 20 Judge Marivic Balisi Umali, according to Manila Police District director Brig. Gen. Leo Francisco.

Tiatco was charged in court for killing a former Manila policeman, Dranreb Cipriano, last year.

Tiatco’s gang is reportedly engaged in robberies and the illegal drug trade, Francisco added.
