Pagcor sponsors evacuation, multipurpose center in Tarlac

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — A P60-million evacuation and multipurpose center funded by the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. (Pagcor) in La Paz, Tarlac broke ground on April 9.

The ceremony was led by La Paz Mayor Venus Jordan and Pagcor vice president for community relations Jimmy Bondoc along with other municipal and Pagcor officials.

Pagcor chairman and chief executive officer Andrea Domingo approved the funding for the two-storey project upon the representations of Jordan and Councilor Robert Mananquil.

La Paz allocated P10 million as its counterpart fund for the construction of the 2,000-square meter building in Barangay Rizal.

The first floor of the building will serve as a multipurpose center while the second floor will be used as an evacuation center during calamities.

La Paz experiences severe flooding during rainy and typhoon season, displacing residents in low-lying barangays.

The multipurpose center will also be used as venue for local government-sponsored meetings, training and seminars.
