Gatchalian, Fresnedi get vaccine jabs

Ghio Ong, Marc Jayson Cayabyab - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — Valenzuela Mayor Rex Gatchalian said he was inoculated with China’s Sinovac yesterday to show to his constituents that the vaccines approved by regulatory authorities are safe to use.

Gatchalian said he did not feel any adverse reactions to the vaccine.

“I feel normal. I took on Sinovac to show our constituents that any brand is safe as long as it’s approved by the Food and Drug Administration,” Gatchalian said as he urged eligible residents to register for the vaccine drive.

Of the 4,571 frontline health workers in the city, 3,886 have been vaccinated, according to the city’s public information office.

Those with comorbidities will be vaccinated from April 10 to 16.

Muntinlupa Mayor Jaime Fresnedi, 70, also received his first dose of AstraZeneca vaccine yesterday.

Fresnedi and his wife were vaccinated along with health workers, senior citizens and persons with comorbidities at the Muntinlupa National High School in Barangay Tunasan.

He urged city residents to register online for the COVID-19 vaccination program at www.vaccine.muntinlupacity.gov.ph/muncovac.
