MRT-3 assures passengers of safety
MANILA, Philippines — The management of the Metro Rail Transit Line 3 has assured passengers of safety as the MRT-3 shuts down operations starting today until April 4 to give way for maintenance during the Holy Week.
Recently, 12 tellers and a cash assistant tested positive for COVID-19. The tellers were assigned at the Santolan, Ortigas and Cubao stations of the MRT-3.
“These personnel have been isolated and are now undergoing quarantine. Contact tracing has also been conducted to avoid the spread of the virus,” the MRT-3 said.
The management said the close contacts of the positive personnel were not allowed to work while waiting for the results of their swab tests.
Since last year, the MRT-3 has been implementing measures to minimize contact between station personnel and passengers.
Tellers and station personnel wear personal protective equipment to avoid contact with the passengers.
The MRT-3 will suspend operations during the Holy Week to repair trains and to test its personnel for COVID-19.
“This will ensure readiness of our personnel to resume operations and to serve the riding public on Monday,” the management said.
