DILG: NCR-Plus bubble residents to get aid
MANILA, Philippines — Local government units (LGUs) within the National Capital Region-Plus bubble are preparing food packs or cash assistance for residents affected by the enhanced community quarantine or ECQ, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) said yesterday.
Metro Manila and the provinces of Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna and Rizal will remain under ECQ until April 4.
DILG spokesman Jonathan Malaya said LGUs were encouraged to distribute aid to their constituents.
“In fact, I talked to mayors yesterday and they were already preparing assistance, especially in the National Capital Region,” Malaya said.
He said the national government would be distributing aid to workers displaced by the ECQ.
Last year, several local governments reported irregularities in the disbursement of payouts from the Department of Social Welfare and Development under the social amelioration program.
