Go inaugurates Bukidnon market, gives aid to vendors
MANILA, Philippines — Sen. Bong Go attended the inauguration on Saturday of a new public market in Quezon town in Bukidnon, whose budget allocation he supported.
Go thanked local officials who initiated the construction of the Quezon Central Market and congratulated them for its completion.
He assured residents that President Duterte would continue serving and helping them.
“As long as President Duterte and I as well as Sen. Miguel Zubiri and Cong. Manuel Zubiri are here, you will never be left behind,” Go said in his speech.
Go’s team provided meals to 650 market vendors displaced by the pandemic.
The vendors also receive food packs, vitamins, medical-grade and reusable masks, and face shields to protect their health and safety.
Select beneficiaries received new pairs of shoes while others got bicycles for their commute to work.
Others were given computer tablets for their children’s online schooling.
Concerned government agencies such as the Department of Social Welfare and Development, and Overseas Workers Welfare Administration distributed cash assistance to residents and displaced overseas Filipino workers, respectively.
The Department of Agriculture distributed corn and vegetable seeds and fingerlings to farmers and vendors.
Go also announced ongoing plans to establish a Malasakit Center at a local hospital, which will provide the residents quick access to medical assistance programs being offered by the government.
