MANILA, Philippines — A man was arrested in Pateros on Friday night for allegedly posing as a National Bureau of Investigation agent.

Police officers – responding to a tip about a car roaming along College street in Barangay Sto. Rosario Kanluran at around 11:20 p.m. – accosted Mark Anthony Wright, 33, who presented an identification card stating he was an NBI agent, the Southern Police District (SPD) reported.

The lawmen confiscated from Wright, a resident of Alabang Hills Village in Muntinlupa, a .45 caliber pistol and two loaded magazines.

They also arrested Wright’s companions Abraham Itchon, 46, who was driving the car, and student Michael Chua Cruz, 20. Both men are residents of BF Homes Subdivision in Parañaque.

The SPD said police officers recovered a .45 caliber pistol with seven bullets from Itchon and a sachet of marijuana worth P300 and a glass pipe with marijuana residue from Cruz.

Wright faces charges of usurpation of authority. All three men would be charged with illegal possession of firearms and possession of illegal drugs, police said.
