Warm and humid until weekend, but not yet summer
MANILA, Philippines — Warm and humid weather will prevail over the country until weekend due to the easterlies, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration.
PAGASA weather specialist Benison Estareja said generally fair weather with chances of isolated rains due to thunderstorms would be experienced in the entire country until Saturday.
However, Estareja clarified that the dry season or summer has not officially started.
He said the northeast monsoon or cold and dry air is expected to affect parts of Luzon and Eastern Visayas next week.
The easterlies or warm air from the Pacific is the dominant wind system during the dry season.
PAGASA senior weather specialist Chris Perez had earlier said the dry season is likely to officially begin in the latter part of this month.
Meanwhile, Estareja said a low-pressure area off the West Philippine Sea had dissipated.
He said no weather disturbance is expected to affect the country this week.
