Mild quakes shake Leyte, Surigao Norte

MANILA, Philippines — Mild earthquakes shook parts of Leyte and Surigao del Norte yesterday, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology.

Phivolcs said a magnitude 3.4 tremor struck five kilometers northwest of Leyte town at 3:09 a.m.

The quake was felt at Intensity 3 in Leyte and Calubian and Intensity 2 in Capoocan and Tabango, all in Leyte.

Meanwhile, a magnitude 3.7 temblor hit 34 kilometers northeast of Burgos, Surigao del Norte at  10:25 a.m.

It was felt at Intensity 2 in Burgos and Intensity 1 in Basilisa, Dinagat Islands.
