Tourists start flocking to Hundred Islands

Eva Visperas - The Philippine Star

ALAMINOS CITY, Philippines — The famous Hundred Islands National Park in this city is expecting an influx of tourists.

Rose Aruelo, assistant city tourism officer here, told The STAR yesterday that there has been an increase in the number of visitors after the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases eased quarantine and documentary requirements.

“From zero, we had more than 200 guests a day last weekend... Recently, an average of 30 to 40 guests a day... went island-hopping,” Aruelo said.

She said they received several inquiries on how to travel to the Hundred Islands, especially during the Holy Week.

Aruelo said visitors from Metro Manila, where there is still a high number of COVID-19 cases, are still required to present a negative swab test result.

“We are ready, but we still have to limit the number of visitors... Now it is pegged at 1,500 guests per day,” she said.
