Sara won’t solicit funds for poll bid

DAVAO CITY, Philippines —  President Duterte’s daughter Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio has vowed not to ask for any financial help should she decide to run for any position in next year’s  elections.

The mayor reiterated that she has not allowed any person or group to solicit campaign funds on her behalf.

She said she never solicited funds from businessmen and any other group when she ran for vice mayor and mayor.

Duterte-Carpio has repeatedly said she is not seeking the highest office in the land even as she thanked those who are urging her to run for president.

“For now, no,” she said when sought for comment on the result of a survey released last week showing her leading among possible presidential candidates in 2022.

Duterte had earlier said his daughter is not keen on running for president when his term ends.

The President said his daughter does not want to run as she wants to focus on her family, especially her three children.
