Go gives aid to Angeles indigents

MANILA, Philippines — After launching the country’s 102nd Malasakit Center last Thursday, Sen. Bong Go personally met and spoke with residents of Angeles City in Pampanga, whose lives and livelihoods have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

“I know many have lost their jobs and a lot more are struggling. President Duterte and all of us are also struggling, but you give us strength to better improve the services we can provide,” he said.

During an activity at the Chevalier School, Go’s staff distributed meals, food packs, vitamins, masks and face shields to 1,500 indigent residents identified by the local government.

Selected beneficiaries received new pairs of shoes while others were given bicycles so they can travel to work with ease while public transportation remains limited. Another set of recipients were provided computer tablets to help their children participate remotely in their classes under the blended learning set-up.

Meanwhile, the Department of Agriculture offered a grant to help a local farming cooperative purchase a new haul truck and distributed gardening tools and seed supplies to encourage households to plant vegetables.

The Department of Trade and Industry, on the other hand, committed to extend livelihood assistance to qualified beneficiaries.

Go urged Kapampangans with health concerns to visit the newly opened Malasakit Center at the Rafael Lazatin Memorial Medical Center or at the Jose B. Lingad Memorial Regional Hospital in San Fernando City.
