New Eastmincom chief named

DAVAO CITY , Philippines — Maj. Gen. Greg Almerol has been appointed new chief of the Eastern Mindanao Command (Eastmincom).

Almerol will replace Lt. Gen. Jose Faustino Jr. who was named Army chief. The turnover ceremonies will be held at Camp Panacan in this city on Monday.

Almerol’s appointment was signed on March 3.

The new Eastmincom chief served as commander of the 2nd Infantry Division and in various capacities in Mindanao. He is a member of the Philippine Military Academy Class of 1989.
