Prober wants Dacera case reopened
MANILA, Philippines — Two weeks after the Makati prosecutor’s office terminated the probe on the death of flight attendant Christine Dacera, the police investigator wants the case reopened.
In a motion filed by Cpl. Louie Lopez on March 1, police argued that more pieces of evidence have surfaced.
Lopez urged the Makati prosecutor’s office to reopen the case and admit additional evidence – two cotton swabs positive for fluoromethamphetamine and shabu and a medico-legal report that found traces of semen in the beddings, pillowcase and blanket in the hotel room where Dacera was found unconscious on Jan. 1.
Mike Santiago, lawyer for the respondents, slammed the delayed motion by the police, saying it “raises fear and doubts.”
“There has been a medico-legal report, which determined the cause of death of Dacera,” Santiago said. “None of our clients tested positive for drug use. This is questionable. Our clients want to move on as well as the public.”
