Marikina logs 25 new COVID-19 cases
MANILA, Philippines — The Marikina government is alarmed by the surge in the number of COVID-19 cases, especially since neighboring cities have allowed cinemas to reopen, Mayor Marcelino Teodoro said yesterday.
Marikina recorded 25 new COVID-19 infections on Tuesday, bringing the total active cases to 277.
“The number of COVID-19 cases in the city is increasing and according to OCTA Research, Marikina is an LGU of concern,” he said in an interview on ANC. “This is a cause of alarm for us. We need to implement stricter measures to prevent the spread of the virus.”
Teodoro said among the measures to minimize COVID-19 transmission is not allowing cinemas to reopen.
