Quakes jolt Soccsksargen
MANILA, Philippines — Two earthquakes jolted parts of Soccsksargen (South Cotabato, Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, Sarangani and General Santos) yesterday, but did not cause any damage to property, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).
The first quake, a magnitude-4.8, occurred at 6:51 a.m. and its epicenter was located seven kilometers southwest of Columbio, Sultan Kudarat.
The temblor was felt at Intensity 4 in Columbio and President Quirino in Cotabato.
Intensity 3 was felt in Polomolok, Tampakan and Tupi towns as well as in the city of Koronadal, all in South Cotabato; Malungon in Sarangani, and Tacurong in Sultan Kudarat.
Intensity 2 was felt in General Santos City; Kidapawan City, Makilala, M’lang, President Roxas and Tulunan, all in Cotabato, and Tantangan and Norala, both in South Cotabato.
The second temblor, a magnitude-3.4, occurred seven kilometers southwest of Columbio at 7:42 a.m.
It was recorded at Instrumental Intensity 2 in Koronadal City.
