P30 million fake cigarettes, equipment seized in Bataan

CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga, Philippines — Fake cigarettes and cigarette-making equipment worth P30 million were seized in a raid on two rice mills in Orion, Bataan on Friday.

Personnel of the Bataan police and Bureau of Customs found cigarette-making machines and raw materials worth around P20 million at Crisostomo rice mill in Barangay Sto. Domingo.

Fake cigarette brands valued at P10 million were seized during a follow-up operation at EBG rice mill in Barangay Balagtas.

Authorities said the raids were related to the operation of the Limay police wherein P37 million worth of smuggled cigarettes were intercepted at a checkpoint on Wednesday.
