Chinese kidnap victim rescued, captor arrested

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines — A Chinese citizen who was kidnapped last week was rescued in a police operation in Barangay San Francisco, Biñan, Laguna on Monday.

Lt. Col. Giovanni Martinez, city police chief, withheld the identity of the victim for security reasons.

Martinez said Zhang Chen was arrested in an entrapment and charged with kidnapping.

The operation stemmed from a tip from a concerned citizen who reported that the victim was held at their subdivision.

The victim said unidentified armed men snatched and held him captive for three days.
