CamSur residents reap benefits of farm-to-market road – Villar

Jose Rodel Clapano - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — Residents of Barangay Sagrada in Minalabac town, Camarines Sur are now reaping the benefits of the farm-to-market road (FMR) completed by the Department of Public Works and Highways in December last year, DPWH Secretary Mark Villar said yesterday.

Citing a report from Camarines Sur 2nd District Engineering Office chief Ruben Santos Jr., Villar noted that the concreting of the 1-kilometer FMR cost P12.44 million and sourced from the Department of Agriculture’s fund for 2020.

“The new road has been improving local mobility in the area resulting to increased income for farmers by providing a more effective road for transporting their products to market centers,” he said.

He added that the time needed for people to reach basic services in their community – such as education, health and business establishments – was greatly lessened by the convenience of using the new road.

Aside from this, the FMR also provided residents a chance to access better employment and trade opportunities in and outside of their community.

Villar also revealed that the DPWH built recently the headquarters of the Magallanes town police station in Agusan del Norte Province.
