Portion of Alaminos-San Pablo bypass road to open

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark Villar has announced the opening of a 2.85-kilometer section of the Alaminos-San Pablo City bypass road in Laguna on March 15.

“This may be only a small portion of the 12.83-kilometer... bypass road, but it marks the non-stop efforts of the department to improve road network to support underdeveloped areas,” Villar said.

He said the entire bypass road, which has five bridge components, is expected to cut travel time between Alaminos and San Pablo by 20 to 40 minutes.

The DPWH has completed a four-km road opening, a 1.63-km and 1.92-km road concreting as well as construction of three of the bridges.

The project, which started in 2016, has a total allocation of P1.36 billion. It will require an additional funding of P473 million for the widening of the three other bridges and paving of the shoulder of the entire road project.
