2 slain in Pasay drug bust
MANILA, Philippines — Police officers shot dead two men who allegedly fought back during a drug sting in Pasay on Friday night.
Joseph Mutuguina, 38, and Ronnie Bonna, 37, reportedly sold illegal drugs to undercover police officers beside the Manila Film Center building at the Cultural Center of the Philippines complex at around 9:45 p.m., according to the Southern Police District.
The suspects, who were not identified, were killed when they allegedly tried to speed away on a motorcycle and started shooting at the lawmen.
A revolver, a pistol and a sachet said to contain around 25.15 grams of methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu valued at around P171,020 were recovered at the scene, police said.
In Valenzuela, Christopher Sta. Maria, 44, and Jeffrey Daluz, 35, were arrested after they were caught in a sting at the Reyes Compound in Barangay Karuhatan, also on Friday night.
The suspects allegedly sold P4,000 worth of shabu to an undercover police officer.
Around 40 grams of shabu valued at P272,000 and P2,300 cash were confiscated from the two men, police said. – Ghio Ong
