Pasay mayor gets COVID-19

Ralph Edwin Villanueva - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — Pasay City Mayor Emi Rubiano said yesterday she has tested positive for COVID-19.

In a statement posted on her official Facebook page, Rubiano said she was tested for COVID-19 on Monday after she experienced symptoms of the illness and one of her staff tested positive.

“The source of the illness, as well as those that were in close contact, are already being traced, to prevent the spread of the virus,” she said.

Rubiano said while she is isolated, she will still perform her part in the operation of the city government through “Zoom, Viber and the telephone and whatever means possible.”

“With what happened, we can see that COVID-19 does not choose its victims. We really need the help of vaccines and prayers to the Lord,” she added.
