MANILA, Philippines — A low-pressure area and the tail-end of a frontal system will continue to dump rain over parts of Luzon and the Visayas until today, the state weather bureau warned yesterday.

As of 3 p.m., the low-pressure area was spotted 65 kilometers east-southeast of Masbate City in Masbate, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.

The low-pressure area is unlikely to develop into a tropical depression in the next two days.

The two weather systems will bring cloudy skies with scattered to widespread rain and thunderstorms over the Bicol region and Eastern Visayas as well as in the provinces of Marinduque, Oriental Mindoro, Quezon and Romblon.

Cloudy skies with scattered rain will prevail over Caraga, Central and Western Visayas, Occidental Mindoro and the rest of Calabarzon due to the low-pressure area.

Metro Manila, Apayao, Aurora, Bulacan, Cagayan Valley, Ifugao, Kalinga, Mountain Province and Nueva Ecija will experience cloudy skies with light rain due to the northeast monsoon.

The rest of Luzon will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rain, also due to the northeast monsoon.

The rest of Mindanao will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain due to thunderstorms.
