Man faces child abuse complaint

Jose Rodel Clapano - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — A man is facing a complaint for child abuse before the Mandaluyong prosecutor’s office in connection with the reported attempted takeover of the office of the firm managing a condominium in the city last month.

Jaime Tiongson, 55, a resident of GA Tower 1 along EDSA, was charged with physical assault under Republic Act 7610 or the Special Protection of Children Against Child Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act.

The complaint, signed by Senior Assistant State Prosecutor Arnold Magpantay, was filed by a 16-year-old girl who alleged that Tiongson hurt her during the incident last December.

The girl, also a resident of the condominium, said she was watching the commotion when Tiongson allegedly elbowed her.

The complainant said Tiongson’s move caused her temporary hearing impairment.

According to a police report, Tiongson was among the men who joined a group of unit owners that allegedly tried to take over the management of GA Tower 1 Condominium Corp. (GT1CC)

Jhonamie Pacheco, 20, who works as an administrative assistant of GT1CC, also filed a complaint with the police accusing Normand Bitanga of robbery, physical injuries and sexual assault when he and other persons allegedly dragged her out of the office on Dec. 19.

?Pacheco said that after the attempted takeover of the office, Bitanga’s group allegedly took P1.5 million of the firm’s cash collections.
