Quake rocks Quezon province

Helen Flores - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude-4.4 earthquake rocked parts of Quezon province yesterday, but did not cause any damage, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.

The quake occurred at 8:05 a.m. and was located 20 kilometers southwest of San Francisco town.

It was felt at Intensity 3 in San Francisco and Mulanay, Intensity 2 in Lucena City and Intensity 1 in Gumaca, all located in Quezon.

Phivolcs describes quakes with Intensities 3, 2 and 1 as weak, slightly felt and scarcely perceptible, respectively.

The quake was an aftershock of a magnitude-5.2 temblor that hit San Francisco on Christmas Day, the agency said.
