3 dead in Luzon road mishaps

TUGUEGARAO, Philippines — Three persons died while four others were injured in separate vehicular acidents that occurred in La Union and Pangasinan on Sunday night.

Lemuel Sebio, 32, and Mark Lardizabal, 49, died at the scene after their pickup fell off a bridge in Caba, La Union.

Rushed to a hospital for treatment were Alexander Padilla, 26, Norian Dagyapan, 37, and driver Jay Nabus, 27.

Witnesses said Nabus lost control of the wheel as they were travelling in Barangay Gaba at around 9:30 p.m.

Nabus reportedly tried to avoid a vehicle that occupied their lane, causing him to lose control of the wheel.

Meanwhile, in Pangasinan, a woman died while her companion was injured when their motorcycle crashed into the metal railings in Burgos town.

Kay Celine Taoatao, 20, was declared dead on arrival at the Dasol Community Hospital, where her companion Benjhon Camba, 23, was also taken for treatment of injuries.

Witnesses said the victims were traveling at top speed in Barangay Tambacan when Camba lost control of the wheel.

On the same day, 26 people were injured when a bus plunged into a ravine in Kidapawan, North Cotabato.

The bus was traveling in Barangay Amas when something fell from the overhead bin and hit driver Jaypee Josue in the eyes.

Josue lost control of the wheel, causing the bus to roll over and fall into the ravine.
