CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines — A Taiwanese man was rescued while his alleged kidnappers were arrested in Imus City, Cavite on Thursday.

Chen Yen Shau, who said he was beaten up by the suspects, was brought to a hospital for treatment.

Lu Cheng and Xie Long Hui, were resting when police raided their hideout in Barangay Tucson B.

Cavite police director Col. Marlon Santos said personnel of the Philippine National Police Anti-Kidnapping Group (AKG)-Luzon field unit and Cavite police conducted the raid.

Santos said they launched the operation based on information from the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office.

AKG director Brig. Gen. Jonnel Estomo said the suspects demanded a P9-million ransom from Chen’s family in Taiwan.

Chen was taken from Parañaque City at around 1 p.m. on Tuesday.

The victim was initially brought to a condominium, also in Parañaque. He was transferred to Cavite when the suspects learned that the mother of the victim sought police assistance.
