Man who killed 2 kids eyed in wife’s slay

MANILA, Philippines — The father who killed his two children in Taguig on Christmas Day is now suspected of murdering his wife whom he reported to have committed suicide, police said over the weekend.

Aiko Siacunco, 29, owned up to the killing of his one-year-old son and three-year-old daughter.

Siacunco turned himself in to police after strangling his children at their home in Barangay North Signal.

The suspect reportedly strangled his wife, Karina, 28, a day before killing his children, according to Taguig police chief Col. Celso Rodriguez.

Police had reported that Karina was discovered hanging.

Rodriguez, however, said they found hand marks around Karina’s neck.

“Siacunco allegedly choked his wife, then strangled her to mislead police that she committed suicide,” Rodriguez said.

Probers said Siacunco attempted to take his own life by stabbing himself and drinking bleach.

Police yesterday filed three counts of parricide charges against Siacunco before the city prosecutor’s office.

The suspect is set to undergo psychiatric examination at the National Center for Mental Health, police said.
