Finland embassy to open in BGC

Ghio Ong - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — Finland will renew its diplomatic ties with the Philippines with the scheduled opening of its embassy in Bonifacio Global City in Taguig early next year.

“Despite challenging times brought by the coronavirus pandemic, we pursued our plans to reopen the embassy in the country as the Philippine economy continues to be one of the region’s most vibrant,” Finnish Ambassador Juha Markus Pyykkö said in a statement.

Pyykkö recently presented his credentials to President Duterte, who hoped that the partnership between the two countries, especially in terms of information and communications technology and renewable energy would be strengthened.

The Finland ministry of foreign affairs approved the selection of the office provided by property firm Pronove Tai and Associates, the ambassador said.

Finland shut down its embassy in the country in 2012.
