Parañaque releases P5.6 million for workers’ aid

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — Parañaque Mayor Edwin Olivarez has approved the release of P5.6 million in financial assistance for job order employees of the city government this Christmas.

City treasurer Anthony Pulmano said Olivarez granted the cash aid in recognition of the workers’ service to the public, especially during the pandemic.

The amount was sourced from the city’s general and special education funds.

Pulmano said workers who have rendered more than four months of service would receive P3,000.

Those who have rendered less than four months of service will receive P1,500.

According to Pulmano, the city government has more than P3-billion savings after releasing around P5 billion to fund programs in response to the pandemic.

Like medical frontliners, Pulmano said city hall employees should be awarded for their contributions to the local government’s efforts in the fight against COVID-19.
