Makati medical frontliners receive wellness kits
MANILA, Philippines — The Makati government has started the distribution of wellness kits to around 2,536 medical frontliners in the city, Mayor Abby Binay said yesterday.
Each wellness kit contains grocery items, a juice box with a reusable tumbler, one dozen donuts and a food voucher worth P500.
“We want to thank our medical frontliners. We want to show them that we care and we treasure them. We acknowledge their tireless efforts and contributions in the fight against COVID-19,” Binay said in a statement.
The recipients of the wellness kits are frontliners from the city health department, Ospital ng Makati and Incident Command Post.
The initial distribution of the kits was spearheaded by the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office and Human Resource Development Office at the city hall quadrangle on Wednesday.
Binay said they scheduled the distribution of the wellness kits per department in compliance with health and safety protocols.
Since the COVID-19 pandemic started in March, the city government has provided support for the city’s frontliners and other essential workers, such as personal protective equipment, hazard pay, shuttle services, flu and pneumonia vaccines and free swab tests.
Makati has increased the salary of nurses in hospitals run by the local government.
