LPA to bring rains in Mindanao
MANILA, Philippines — A low-pressure area spotted east of Davao City will bring rains over parts of Mindanao, but is not likely to develop into a tropical depression.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the weather system is moving northwest toward eastern Mindanao.
The low-pressure area was located 395 kilometers east of Davao City at 3 p.m. yesterday. It is likely to reach landmass this morning or tomorrow afternoon.
“The possibility that this low-pressure area will be upgraded into a tropical depression within 24 hours remains less likely but not ruled out,” PAGASA said in a weather advisory.
Scattered rains with isolated thunderstorms are expected over Mindanao as well as western and eastern Visayas.
PAGASA warned the public of flooding and landslides due to continuous rains.
Cagayan Valley and the Cordilleras will also experience cloudy skies with rains due to the northeast monsoon.
Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon is likely to experience cloudy skies with isolated light rains due to the northeast monsoon.
