Public warned vs noche buena scam

Emmanuel Tupas - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — The public should beware of unscrupulous individuals posing as resellers of noche buena items, the police Anti-Cybercrime Group (ACG) said yesterday.

The ACG issued the reminder following the arrest of Kenneth Balagtas, 25, and Winie Fresco, 33, in separate operations in  Mabalacat, Pampanga last Friday.

Maj. Joseph Villaran, ACG spokesperson, said a 27-year-old woman from Pasig City lost P50,000 to the suspects.

An investigation revealed the suspects asked the victim to invest her money as downpayment for hams and queso de bolas that she can sell at higher prices
