MANILA, Philippines — A police officer tested positive for drugs during a random drug testing held recently at the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) headquarters at Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig City.

In a report, the Philippine National Police Crime Laboratory said M/Sgt. Leonardo Mariano Jr. was found positive for shabu use.

Mariano, a member of the Pandacan police station in Manila, was the only officer who tested positive for shabu among 74 NCRPO personnel who underwent drug tests.

His urine sample was brought to the Crime Laboratory for confirmatory testing and it yielded the same results during the initial drug test.

“The drug test result was confirmed during gas chromatography-mass spectrometry,” Crime Laboratory director Brig. Gen. Steve Ludan told reporters.
