4,339 Pasig employees promoted, given salary hike
MANILA, Philippines — Pasig Mayor Vico Sotto on Friday gave an early Christmas gift to 4,339 casual employees of the city government by promoting them and increasing their salaries.
Sotto said the employees who are earning P11,551 a month will get a monthly salary of P13,572 by January next year, an increase of P2,021.
The local chief executive admitted the salary increase for their employees underwent a long tedious process but it was all worth it as it ensured decent wages for their workers.
“Giving our workers dignity and security is an important part of this,” he said in a Facebook post on Friday night.
The local government will also regularize 617 contractual employees who have been serving the city for more than 15 years.
If he had his way, Sotto wants to promote all their workers but he explained it has to undergo a process.
