200 families lose homes in Muntinlupa fire

Ralph Edwin Villanueva - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — A fire razed a residential area in Barangay Alabang, Muntinlupa at past midnight yesterday, leaving around 200 families homeless.

The fire broke out at the second floor of a house along Ilaya street. The blaze razed around 100 houses and reached third alarm before it was put out at around 2:48 a.m, the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) reported.

The cause of the fire, which destroyed around P1 million worth of property, is still under investigation, the BFP said.

The city government provided hot meals and relief packs to the affected families, who were given shelter at the Alabang Elementary School’s covered court.
