P1.8 million smuggled anti-anxiety drugs seized

MANILA, Philippines — The Bureau of Customs (BOC) has confiscated 35,345 tablets of anti-anxiety medicines diazepam and nitrazepam with a street value of P1.8 million at a courier firm’s warehouse near the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) in Pasay City.

The tablets of Valium and Mogadon, discovered during an examination of packages at the Pair Cargo warehouse, were sent in a parcel from Pakistan declared as “health care products,” the BOC-NAIA said.

The BOC-NAIA did not name the intended recipient of the package.
