Fissures seen in Quirino barangay

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan, Philippines — At least 20 families were displaced after fissures were observed in a resettlement area in Barangay San Pugo, Nagtipunan, Quirino following continuous heavy rains, the Office of the Civil Defense (OCD) reported yesterday.

The OCD said the affected families were evacuated to the Nagtipunan Central School.

A team from the Mines and Geosciences Bureau has yet to bare its findings on what caused the cracks on the ground.

The displaced families had asked Gov. Dakila Cua to relocate them to safer ground.
