3 dead in Muntinlupa, Las Piñas fires

MANILA, Philippines — Three persons died in two fires in Muntinlupa and Las Piñas since Friday night.

Zozimo Asido, 73, and Maricel Asido, 56, died of suffocation when a fire broke out in Camella Homes in Barangay Putatan, Muntinlupa at around 6:30 p.m., according to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP).

The fire reached first alarm and destroyed two houses before it was put out by around 7:17 p.m.

The BFP estimated the fire damage at around P1 million. Investigators have yet to determine what caused the fire, which affected two families.

In Las Piñas, Riyann Cloud Bueno, five, died in a fire that razed 25 houses in Santos Village in Barangay Zapote.

The fire, which started at around 9 a.m., left around 35 families homeless, said city fire marshal Arthur Sawate.
