Bong Go aids Rizal typhoon victims

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — Sen. Bong Go visited and assisted victims of massive flooding due to Typhoon Ulysses in San Mateo and Rodriguez towns in Rizal on Thursday.

Go provided food packs, face masks, face shields, vitamins and free meals to 1,313 families at the San Mateo National High School and Eulogio Rodriguez Elementary School.

Go’s office made sure that the activities were done in compliance with minimum health protocols to avoid the spread of COVID-19 and other diseases.

“Hindi lang po tulong ang gusto namin dalhin sa inyo. Nais namin makapag-iwan man lang ng konting ngiti sa panahon ng inyong pagdadalamhati. Gusto ko lang po kayong sumaya kahit papaano. Magtulungan lang po tayo. Magkaisa po tayo. Sino ba naman ang magtutulungan kundi tayo ring mga kapwa Pilipino,” he said.

Go said he would remain consistent with his promise to prioritize serving Filipinos in crisis situations.

Selected beneficiaries were provided bicycles that they could use to commute to work given limited public transportation options due to the pandemic. Others were given tablets to help their children cope with blended learning being implemented in schools.

Personnel from the Department of Social Welfare and Development were also present to distribute separate financial assistance to the typhoon victims.

The Department of Agriculture checked on the situation of farmers and fishermen and distributed seeds, fertilizers and insecticides, among other forms of assistance.

The Department of Trade and Industry and the National Housing Authority conducted assessment to identify beneficiaries eligible for their livelihood and housing programs, respectively.
