DPWH: Taguig road widening completed
MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) yesterday led the inauguration of phase one of the road widening of Lawton Avenue in Taguig City.
The ceremony was led by DPWH Secretary Mark Villar, Mayor Lino Cayetano and Rep. Lani Cayetano.
“We are glad to inform the motoring public that their traffic woes will soon be over with the completion of this 1.34-kilometer road widening project that will provide better traffic flow, faster mobilization of goods and services, as well as a safer journey,” Villar said.
He added that the newly widened avenue, also known as Nichols Field Road, would “reduce travel time from Bonifacio Global City to Ninoy Aquino International Airport by about 40 percent with its capacity to accommodate additional volume of vehicles, providing a new and safer access road to the country’s main gateway.”
The project was started in August 2017 as part of the department’s traffic decongesting effort under the Build, Build, Build program.
The Lawton Avenue widening complements the BGC-Ortigas Center Link Road, which includes the Lawton Avenue-Sta. Monica Bridge that is targeted for full completion in 2021, according to the DPWH.
