DILG chief’s aide named new Calabarzon cop chief
MANILA, Philippines — A former director of the Bohol police and the special police assistant to Interior Secretary Eduardo Año is the new chief of the Calabarzon police.
Brig. Gen. Felipe Natividad replaced Brig. Gen. Vicente Danao Jr., who was named National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) director with the appointment of Gen. Debold Sinas as Philippine National Police (PNP) chief.
Natividad will oversee police affairs and operations in Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon.
Sinas said no major reshuffle would take place during his term as PNP chief.
“(It’s) not a reshuffle, because we will only be filling positions that were and will be vacated due to retirement or recent promotions,” Sinas told reporters after the change of command ceremony at the NCRPO headquarters yesterday.
Natividad was appointed head of the Bohol police when President Duterte assumed office in 2016.
He led police forces in the fight against Abu Sayyaf bandits who attacked the province in 2017. The entire police force was investigated by the Commission on Human Rights in connection with the death of an Abu Sayyaf bandit while under its custody.
Natividad was appointed to Año’s office in 2018.
A member of the Philippine Military Academy Class of 1990, Natividad will retire in August 2023.
