Truck plows into group of children; 1 dead

GUMACA, Quezon, Philippines — A seven-year-old boy died when a 10-wheeler truck plowed into a group of children and rammed a tricycle and two houses along Maharlika Highway in Barangay Inaclagan in this town on Thursday.

Maj. Rodelio Calawit, town police chief, identified the fatality as Luiz Kyle Arriola.

The driver of the truck, Edmar Nocos, 29, claimed he lost control of the wheel.

Eight other children aged one to 14 were injured and taken to a hospital for treatment.
