More jeepneys to ply Metro Manila routes

MANILA, Philippines — Beginning tomorrow, 507 more traditional jeepneys will resume operations in four routes in Metro Manila, the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFBR) said yesterday.

The LTFRB said a total of 29,227 traditional jeepneys were allowed to ply 336 routes in the metropolis.

The new routes approved by the LTFRB are Parang to Recto; Parang to Stop & Shop, Aurora Boulevard; Recto to SSS Village, España Boulevard, and Libertad to Pinagbarilan.

A total of 4,447 buses have been allowed to operate in 34 routes; 4,327 UV Express Shuttles in 98 routes; 387 point-to-point buses in 34 routes, and 865 modern jeepneys in 48 routes.

The transport regulator said 20,964 taxis and 25,068 Transport Network Vehicle Services have also been allowed to resume operations in Metro Manila.
