Robredo goes on quarantine
MANILA, Philippines — Vice President Leni Robredo and some of her staff members are under quarantine after they were exposed to an individual who had tested positive for COVID-19.
“I was exposed to a positive person last Thursday, so we followed the quarantine protocols,” Robredo said in her weekly radio program yesterday.
Robredo said she did not manifest any symptoms of the disease.
Her chief of staff, Undersecretary Philip Francisco Dy, and other personnel of the Office of the Vice President are also under isolation.
Robredo said her meetings and other activities would be held virtually as they wait to undergo swab tests.
“We were in close contact with the person although we followed all protocols. We wore face masks and shields and practiced social distancing. I think we are safe, but we need to follow the protocols just to be sure,” she said.
Robredo’s events scheduled in Lucena City, Quezon today and in Caloocan tomorrow have been canceled.
Asked to react to Robredo’s decision to undergo quarantine, presidential spokesman Harry Roque said, “We wish her good health.”
